Call to Order: 6:41 pm 2. Introduction of Guest: None 3. Approval of Agenda: Correction Noted: State PTSA Convention - April 19-21, 2002; Honolulu. Add to New Business: C. Storage Area and D. Certificate of Insurance. 4. Secretary's Report: Circulated, Correction Noted: State PTSA Convention, April 19-21, 2002. 5. Treasurer's Report: Approved as circulated. 6. Committee Reports A. Membership Committee: Received dues for another member today. B. Fundraising Committee: Evaluation meeting scheduled for next week Tuesday, January 22, 2002. Net profit close to $20,000. No need to pay GE tax. Six (6) cases of steaks lefi, committee to decide what to do with it. C. Parent Programs Committee: Working on putting together another proposal for another presentation by Gary Shimabukuro. Prefer evening meeting, no dates yet. Discussion held regarding types of topics for seminars, i.e., juvenile prevention, finance, beginning drugs (alcohol and marijuana), ice, health care (tobacco), etc. Suggestion made that seminars not include children, should be parents only. Plan on separate session for children. D. Special Programs Committee: Flyers and copies made for distribution for financial planning presentations. February 14, 2002 and March 14, 2002. Registration forms to be completed. E. Reflections Committee: No Report F. Special Projects Committee: No requests received. 7. Unfinished Business A. School Improvement Project: Check cut for computer system software upgrade program. B. State PTSA Convention: April 19-21, 2002 on Oahu. Everyone encouraged to attend. Deadline for early registration is in February. Those interested in attending to noti~ Richard Onishi by end of January. 8. New Business A. Request for Funds: Aloha Team for team Hoolaulea at the end of the quarter. Request $300-$450 to offset cost for students. B. Hoolaulea: Kupuna still in planning stages. Busses and handicap vans have been arranged. C. Storage Area: Storage for fundraiser booth designed to build "lean to shelter". 8 feet wide with cement slab, fence to be erected around structure. Checked with DAG, County Building Division, no need building permit if max. roof height does not exceed 6 feet. Wayne Kaneshiro is the volunteer coordinator. Estimated 2 days for completion, 1 day for slab, and another day for the roof and fence. D. Certificate of Insurance: Producer - R.V. Nuccio and Associates Insurance Brokers, Inc.; Company affording coverage - Fireman's Fund Insurance Co.; Insured - Hawaii State PTSA. General Liability Plus, Bonding Plus, Directors and Officers Liability. Received notice regarding additional requirements by insurance camer. i. Vendors, concessionaires and independent contractors must name local PTA Unit and State as an additional insured on their liability insurance policy. PTA must be named as sponsor. R. Onishi to follow up with state, nearly impossible to meet guidelines based on functions we hold. ii. PTA activity or event requires review of State PTA Insurance Program Summary and Loss Control Guide. Violation of this procedure may void liability insurance program. 9. Principal's Report A. School wide action plan, SID was reviewed twice but not approved. Plan to discuss with district superintendent idea of working on FOL instead of redoing SD for 2003 visit. There were many reasons why the plan was not approved. -More work was needed on the department action plans. -Teams need to develop action plans. -Timelines need to be more specific. -Connection school wide learner outcomes, plans not very clear. -Data charts need improvements. B. State reorganizing districts, Maui and Big Island breakdown yet to be announced. Presently 7 districts with 7 superintendents. Oahu had 4, now they have 9 or 10 area superintendents. Districts broken down into smaller "clusters". Big Island may be broken down into 3 clusters with 3 area superintendents. C. Talk of reorganization of the Board of Education. 10. Announcements A.
